Charlotte constantly looks to the side as the group is outside the hospital
Story
A web horror crew heads to an abandoned mental institution to broadcast live. They soon encounter much more than expected as they delve deeper into the creepy old building. The filmmakers were unable to obtain permission from the South Korean government to film at an actual hospital, so the scenes in the film set at Gonjiam were filmed at the National Maritime High School in Busan, with the production team sticking closely to the hospital floor plan to recreate the exact same exterior and hallways.

It’s obvious that she’s responding by smiling at who she is. How much you get out of this Korean found footage horror will depend on your bias towards this particular sub-genre. There’s really nothing new here – think “Grave Encounters,” but better done with improved technology to live-stream any paranormal encounters.
However, they get a lot more than they initially expected
The premise is cliché; a small crew from the horror webcomic Horror Time grabs cameras to investigate an abandoned and isolated asylum late at night for a live broadcast. No surprises in how things unfold, but the atmosphere is thick. Pure fear, looming shadows, and creaking sounds engulf the dank, colorless place that simply swallows you.
It reminds me a lot of the tone/atmosphere of Session 9, maybe even scarier
One thing though, there’s no way I’m going to be drawn in after midnight. After a slow start introducing the characters, the chemistry dynamics, and a bit of the asylum’s backstory, including other thrill seekers who disappear after entering the building. It all works quite nicely in conjunction with the obligatory jump scares and equipment failures.
Still, the moments we do get, and there are a good 3 or 4 of them, are well-shot thrillers
What seemed like a simple story at first proved to have a surprise or two in store for the paranormal loophole that centers around the cursed room 402. There were some pretty effective scenes, but probably too few incidents in what feels like a bit of a stretch .
